Canadian Firearms Safety Course & Saskatchewan Hunter Safety Course


First-time PAL & RPAL licence applicants must pass the Canadian Firearms Safety Course before applying for a Possession and Acquisition Licence. After the in-class instruction, you will do a written and practical test.

Anyone 12 years or older can take the CFSC. Children under 12 can take the course, but only for educational purposes. They will not do the written or practical exams. To get a Minor’s Licence to borrow and use non-restricted firearms, the minor must be between 12 and 17 years old.


In Saskatchewan, you are required to complete a hunter education course and hold a hunter education certificate in order to purchase a Saskatchewan Hunting License. For more information you can check out the latest Hunter Education Requirements within the Hunters & Trappers Guide located below:
